We Don’t Celebrate Women’s Week at Persistent
Did that headline get your attention? Ok, truth be told, we are in fact celebrating Women’s Week this week, in advance of the March 8th global celebration of International Women’s day. On this day, the world speaks up about the need for women leaders, equality for women, gender diversity at the workplace and women’s health care programs. At Persistent Systems we don’t think this should just be a one day, or a one week focus… We believe every day is a Women’s day and that’s why we’ve implemented a holistic approach to our programs. Women make up about 30% of our company – BU heads, team leads, HR and various other technical and support staff – and we provide a wide variety of innovative and impactful programs aimed to simplify and enrich their lives and cultivate them as leaders for our future.
We truly believe – actually we know – that women make great leaders. And we live this ethos every day. We routinely hold Women leadership programs and encourage mentor -mentee relationships by giving women employees the freedom to approach leaders within the company to learn the art of leadership. We also encourage communication with top executives and networking sessions through Prerana, Persistent’s women-centric forum.
Women’s safety is crucial. At Persistent, it begins with education on self-defense. As part of this initiative, we invite experts on self-defense to hold workshops and encourage Persistent women to participate. We also offer night cab facility for women traveling home and have an Anti-Harassment Committee (AHC) to ensure harassment-free work environment for women at all times.
Maintaining work-life balance can be a serious challenge for today’s working women. Persistent simplifies this challenge by offering its female employees flexible schedules. We also ensure smooth reentry of women returning from sabbaticals or maternity leaves through our special initiatives.
Fitness and productivity are correlated. We encourage Persistent women to lead a healthy lifestyle by offering routine health checkup camps, special health and dietary consultations, gym facilities, yoga training, Zumba workshop, Marathon Training workshop and special restrooms facilities.
And it doesn’t end here! We love to go a few extra miles to enrich personal lives of Persistent women. For this, we celebrate Women’s week each year with special programs planned by Persistent women for Persistent Women (and we are doing it this year too!), hold hobby workshops for art lovers, dance workshops and competitions, special talk shows by inspiring women and have fun games for women employees from time to time.
So when we say tongue-in-cheek we don’t celebrate Women’s Week we hope you can see what we mean. At Persistent, every week is Women’s Week and in fact every day is Women’s Day!
