Client Success

US-based healthcare intelligence company improves trial data review efficiency with automation

The client is a leading provider of advanced analytics and clinical research services to the global life sciences industry. With over 40 AI-driven commercial offerings, the company’s 82,000+ experts serve customers in over 100 countries.

The Challenge

The client’s legacy data review module was challenged by severe performance issues while handling large volumes of data. This resulted in poor data management, lack of transparency and integrity and hindered the client’s ability to review critical data to address issues around clinical trial discrepancies.

The company also needed a partner who could provide technical assistance to manage data flowing in from thirdparty systems with multiple databases, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL.

The Solution

The client engaged Persistent to build a centralized system that would enhance the efficiency and accuracy of trial data review and to take discrepancies to closure.

Persistent leveraged the Appian platform to build an integrated data review module for tracking discrepancies. The application automated the workflow end-toend. It helped extract inconsistent data from external systems and close data reviews along with vendors or resolution owner groups. This helped the client streamline critical processes and improve workforce productivity.

Persistent enabled the provision of online and offline workflows where data discrepancies could be shared over email and the responses for each were tracked for closure.

The Outcome

Automating critical business processes enabled the client to reduce manual efforts by 80% and improve the efficiency of the data review module. This, in turn, led to a 40% improvement in turnaround time for resolving discrepancies. With standardized and accurate business workflows, the client was able to accelerate time-to-market by 45%.
